Update from Wild Thyme
Following the announcement by the Government that restaurants can start to re-open from the 4 July, we know that many of you will be disappointed to learning that we are not quite ready to open our doors at this time. As a small restaurant, we always knew that social distancing would be exceedingly difficult here, and even though this has now been reduced, we feel that re-opening in our previous guise is not viable, both economically and practically.
This situation has forced us to consider the future of our business, both financially and personally, and so we are currently working on a new concept for Wild Thyme and we will bring you more details very soon. In the meantime, we hope you will bear with us and understand that we are not currently taking any table reservations. We do, however to provide our "Take me Home" dinner service with menus and information below.
Take me Home - Menus for September.
As we continue to move safely out of lockdown, we have decided to move this service to Friday evening from mid-July as we feel that this is likely to be the day when most people would appreciate a night off cooking.
Spaces each week are limited and will be on a first come first served basis. Please make your request by email to email@example.com and wait for a confirmation. Please bear with us if we do not reply immediately although we will endeavour to reply the same day. If you haven’t heard back within 24 hours, then feel free to call and check that we received your email. Please also check your junk folder as sometimes we are “junked” because of individuals’ firewalls.
Free delivery during the afternoon is available within a 5-mile radius of Wild Thyme or you can collect from us between 3-5pm. Meals are fully prepared and just need re-heating with full instructions included. We request payment by the Wednesday prior to delivery/collection and will send details of how to make payment with confirmations.
Menus for September – £30 per person for 3 courses and Nick’s home-made bread
We hope you appreciate that we are unable to deviate from the set menu but will of course continue to manage allergies. Please make sure you advise us of these at the time of booking. Although a vegetarian option is not advertised, we can offer an alternative on request and most dishes are naturally gluten free (or can be made so). We are sorry that we are unable to deal with other dietary requirements at this time.
Greek week – 25 September
Meze, Nick’s focaccia
Slow roast leg of lamb, garlic, rosemary, tzatziki, roasted vegetables & potatoes
Custard tart & apricots
Please let us know if you have a food intolerance or allergy so that we can check our detailed allergen information sheet for dishes to avoid.

Helping the local community with Mary's Meals – Update!
So since the restaurant closed on the 22 March we have cooked in the region of 10,000 meals in the past 20 weeks and this is how we did it…
Every Monday we had a delivery of fresh vegetables, meat, pasta and rice all either bought with donations or donated directly through St Mary’s Church, Chipping Norton. It was quite a task to peel and chop all those veggies in one afternoon.
Tuesday was the big cook up day where Nick turned this produce into four or five different dishes, we aimed to cook around 500 meals a week. Meals have included chicken curry, pasta bolognese, chunky beef and sweet potato chill and sausage casserole.
Wednesday mornings was spent packaging and labelling meals before delivering into the seven freezers occupying the old Nat West building.
It’s been our absolute pleasure to have been able to help provide these meals to you and families in our community during lockdown and we hope you’ve enjoyed them!
It’s been great to work together with Mary’s Meals at The Branch and we are making plans of how we can continue to work together to bring more tasty, healthy food to the community - hopefully offering you an opportunity to cook!
For the last week of providing these meals we sent out a recipe card with all the ingredients to have a go at making Nick’s legendary Sausage Casserole.
Mary's meals is run by our local church – St Mary’s, and provides frozen meals and other food to those within our community that need it most. During these past few weeks, this operation has grown from around 40 meals per month to about 150 a week and so we are now cooking a couple of days a week to keep their five freezers stocked.
The Chippy Larder
The Chippy larder is a weekly food event based in Chipping Norton for members of the charity SOFEA. Food is obtained from SOFEA in partnership with FareShare who rescue (from suppliers/supermarkets) and re-distribute hundreds of tonnes of food surplus each year throughout the Thames Valley region, supporting families in need whilst reducing food waste.
Again, demand for this service is growing fast and the team of volunteers, (of which Sally is one) are currently delivering around 300 boxes locally every Friday. There is also a collection hub based at the Leisure Centre in Chipping Norton every Friday afternoon. If you or some one you know would benefit from membership they can email firstname.lastname@example.org.

"Every single course was delicious and was presented with care and pride. Really enjoyed our evening out. The service was polite and friendly and the chef is excellent."
The best of the best!!!!
"I was recommended to go to this restaurant through a work colleague and I would highly recommend to everyone!! It is first class food and everything from the bread, through to desert was second to none!! The flavours and infusion of food left us totally satisfied but not overly full which you usually feel after a 3 course meal. Wine list was also amazing, service fantastic and can’t wait to go back!! Thank you thank you thank you."
Worthy of a Michelin Star
"Delicious food. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. A true gem of the Cotswolds. You'll need to book though – it's popular and rightly so!"
