Update from Wild Thyme
It is with somewhat heavy hearts that we write to you today, as we have made the difficult decision to leave our premises in Chipping Norton this summer.
We set up Wild Thyme 13 years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed creating special meals and occasions for you over that time, but the cost base of running a small independent restaurant such as ours has spiralled, and it is simply not financially viable for us to operate in this way anymore.
Therefore, we have spent the past 18 months trying to reposition Wild Thyme so we could continue to bring you great food, and so, continue we will! We will be using a prep kitchen on the local Elmsfield Industrial Estate and sending out our weekly Take Me Home dinners from there, every Friday from September.
We are currently seeking out a few venues that we can host regular “pop up” dinners at, and we are working on the possibility of a seasonal venue from next Spring – more news on this to follow!
We will be focusing on building our Private Chef services where Nick can come to you, and cook in your home, (or other venue) for parties of ten or more and the team is available to cater for larger events and parties for up to around 60 guests. Our work in the community continues, with Nick currently undertaking Cookery Workshops with students from the Top School in conjunction with The Branch.
There are eight opportunities for you to dine here with us one last time, culminating with a delicious taster menu for our final weekend at the end of July, featuring the best of Wild Thyme. Fabulous menus for these Dining Clubs and Take Me Home menus for May and June follow below. As always, we are happy to offer vegetarian alternatives on request.

Take Me Home
This home dining experience has been so popular during lockdown that we have decided to continue with our weekly Friday service. It has become apparent that there are many reasons why dining out may not always be on the cards and our Take Me Home option offers as close to a restaurant meal as possible, oven ready to enjoy at your convenience.
They are also a great option for a personal treat, a gift or a small get together.
The April Take Me Home menus can be viewed on our Take Me Home page
Running at our premises in Chipping Norton till the 23 July, these are set dates where you can spend a lovely evening at Wild Thyme enjoying Nick’s great food.
The menu is set (so there’s not even the hassle of deciding what to eat) to be the freshest, delicious dishes of the season, with zero food waste. £60 per head including a glass of fizz or £85 per head with wine pairing. Add in a cheese course for £10 per guest. We do of course continue to cater for specific dietary requirements so just ask if you need an alternative or adapted dish.
Our next dining club is:
Saturday, 28 May
Nick’s breads, olives & smoked almonds
Watercress soup, poached quails egg, crème fraiche
Pan seared Cornish scallops, cauliflower, parmesan, crispy pancetta
Slow roast fillet beef, braised salt shin of beef fritter, fondant potato, spinach, asparagus, beef jus
French apple tart, vanilla ice cream
Visit our Dining Club page for our upcoming events.
Wild Thyme is available for private dining either in the restaurant or in your own home. Minimum numbers are10 for either venue but are a maximum of 30 at the restaurant with no limit at your own home.
Menu suggestions are available on our Private Dining page but we are of course happy to discuss other menu ideas with you. If you would like to chat about your event, in the restaurant or at home, please call us on 01608 645060 or email email@example.com
Cooking with our community continues!!!
We have been so pleased to be continuing to put our skills and time to good use working with St Mary’s Church, cooking their Mary’s Meals for families in our local community. We continue to build on this as we work together with them on the Branch out and Cook project with local families and the Top School students.
This project aims to educate individuals and their families on how to cook cost effective, nutritious meals and together we have built a 10-week programme which involves Nick teaching here in the Wild Thyme kitchen.
We had an amazing evening at FarmED cooking some delicious Diddly Squat Farm Shop lamb for The Branch Trust thank you of all their incredible Covid volunteers. We were delighted to part of this initiative by cooking so many meals for the community. Over 150 gathered and we were honoured to be thanked by Oxfordshire’s new Lord Lieutenant, Marjorie Glasgow.

"Every single course was delicious and was presented with care and pride. Really enjoyed our evening out. The service was polite and friendly and the chef is excellent."
The best of the best!!!!
"I was recommended to go to this restaurant through a work colleague and I would highly recommend to everyone!! It is first class food and everything from the bread, through to desert was second to none!! The flavours and infusion of food left us totally satisfied but not overly full which you usually feel after a 3 course meal. Wine list was also amazing, service fantastic and can’t wait to go back!! Thank you thank you thank you."
Worthy of a Michelin Star
"Delicious food. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. A true gem of the Cotswolds. You'll need to book though – it's popular and rightly so!"
