Update from Wild Thyme

 

 

We are delighted to be able to open our doors again and run our December Dining Clubs (and host a wedding!) as planned. The menu is the same for all events this month with a choice of meat, fish and veggie (see below) so we hope you are tempted to don your glad rags and treat yourselves – you deserve it!”

 

If you’re hibernating (so much nicer than quarantining, isolating or shielding!), our Take me Home meals continue and as promised, we are very excited to be offering a Take me Home Christmas Day lunch for delivery or collection by 2pm on Christmas Eve as well as a New Year’s Eve Take Me Home dinner – menus for these two special meals are below.

 

We do hope to see you over the month of December either at one our Dining Clubs or for a Take Me Home meal and hope that we all manage to enjoy a little of sparkle this December!

Christmas Day Take Me Home Lunch

Friday, 25 December

For delivery or collection by 2pm Christmas Eve

£50 per person, £30 children

 

Nibbles

Sunshine olives, smoked almonds, smoked mackerel & cream cheese croutes

 

Soup (v)

Cream of parsnip soup, white truffle oil, chives

Blini

Sourdough blini, smoked salmon & avocado, quail’s egg, Avruga caviar

 

Turkey

Roast local turkey, cranberry & chestnut stuffing, chipolata & pancetta, garlic herbed roast potatoes, winter greens, cauliflower cheese, cranberry sauce & turkey jus

Vegetable en-croute (v)

Vegetables wrapped in puff pastry, mushroom duxelles, edamame beans, spinach, kale, lemon & chive cream

Helping the local community with Mary's Meals – Update!

 

So since the restaurant closed on the 22 March we have cooked in the region of 10,000 meals in the past 20 weeks and this is how we did it…

 

Every Monday we had a delivery of fresh vegetables, meat, pasta and rice all either bought with donations or donated directly through St Mary’s Church, Chipping Norton. It was quite a task to peel and chop all those veggies in one afternoon.

 

Tuesday was the big cook up day where Nick turned this produce into four or five different dishes, we aimed to cook around 500 meals a week.   Meals have included chicken curry, pasta bolognese, chunky beef and sweet potato chill and sausage casserole.

 

Wednesday mornings was spent packaging and labelling meals before delivering into the seven freezers occupying the old Nat West building.

 

It’s been our absolute pleasure to have been able to help provide these meals to you and families in our community during lockdown and we hope you’ve enjoyed them!

 

It’s been great to work together with Mary’s Meals at The Branch and we are making plans of how we can continue to work together to bring more tasty, healthy food to the community - hopefully offering you an opportunity to cook!

 

For the last week of providing these meals we sent out a recipe card with all the ingredients to have a go at making Nick’s legendary Sausage Casserole.

For the time being we are only selling gift vouchers for our weekly Take me Home Dinner service. This is a great way to treat someone during these difficult times – a voucher for two costs £60 and may be used on any week of choice up until the end of this year.
