Update from Wild Thyme

We hope you are having a lovely summer! It’s been so good these past few months, seeing many of you again after such a long time and helping to arrange several special celebrations.

 

Just before we head of to (hopefully) sunny Suffolk for a break, we thought we’d bring you September Take me Home menus and a couple more Dining Club dates for October.  As we write, there are still a couple of larger tables left for the Provencal Fish Supper on Saturday, 11 September so if you’ve been meaning to arrange a night out with friends then this provides a good opportunity.

 

Our first off site Dining Club at FarmED last month was such a success that we have two more events scheduled at this great venue for later this year. The next one will be a fantastic Sunday lunch on Sunday, 17 October with the option to add on a Farm Walk and Talk; see below for more details. And, although we are reluctant to use the “C” word before September, needs must and our following event at FarmED will be a Christmas Feast on Saturday, 11 December, so save the date and we will send more details in our next email.

 

We are taking bookings for Private Dining events of ten guests or more, at the restaurant, at your home or other venues, so please do get in touch if you’d like to discuss a celebration.

So, how do the Dining Clubs work?

 

These are set dates where you can spend a lovely evening at Wild Thyme or local venue, enjoying Nick’s great food, (no need to be a “member” – we welcome everyone).

 

The menu is set (so there’s not even the hassle of deciding what to eat) to be the freshest, delicious dishes of the season, with zero food waste. We do of course continue to cater for specific dietary requirements so just ask if you need an alternative or adapted dish.

 

You will have your own socially distanced table, (for parties of between 2 and 14 people) and it’s yours for the whole evening, so no rushing. There’s no apps to order by, but proper service by real people!

 

Our small team continue to wear face masks and maintain the highest standards of hygiene as always, and as the restaurant isn’t used every day, you can be sure it’s the safest way to dine out right now.

 

We ask for 50% deposit upon booking and if you’re unable to attend for any reason, this will be held against a future event or can be used for one of our Take me Home meals.

£50 lunch only, £70 with 2-hour morning walk & talk, children under 12 half price

Private Dining

 

Wild Thyme is available for private dining either in the restaurant or in your own home. Minimum numbers are10 for either venue but are a maximum of 30 at the restaurant with no limit at your own home.

Take Me Home

 

This home dining experience has been so popular during lockdown that we have decided to continue with our weekly Friday service. It has become apparent that there are many reasons why dining out may not always be on the cards and our Take Me Home option offers as close to a restaurant meal as possible, oven ready to enjoy at your convenience.

 

They are also a great option for a personal treat, a gift or a small get together.

Cooking with our community

 

We have been so pleased to be able to put our skills and time to good use during this past year in working with St Mary’s Church, cooking their Mary’s Meals for families in our local community. We continue to build on this as we work together with them on the Branch out and Cook project.

 

This project aims to educate individuals and their families on how to cook cost effective, nutritious meals and together we have built a 10-week programme which involves Nick teaching here in the Wild Thyme kitchen. We’ve already had two lovely young Mum’s graduate and are looking forward to welcoming a couple of students from Chipping Norton School to the programme, after the easter holidays.

 

We are also delighted to be catering for 130 plus guests attending the Lawrence Home Nursing Charity Clay Shoot Reception and Dinner in late June; helping this amazing local charity raise much needed funds after a year with no events. www.lawrencehomenursing.org.
